Psychotherapy for couples

PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR COUPLES

Couples psychotherapy is a specific subtype of therapy, when both the partners take part at the sessions, typically at the same time. I tend to be more active throughout the course of couples’ therapy sessions (compared to individual psychotherapy) and the sessions are generally more structured. I focus on providing both the partners a safe space and make sure everybody has an equal opportunity to express their feelings, wishes and needs.

Couples psychotherapy aims at the couple as a system and targets the couple’s problems directly. The goal is to harmonize the needs of each partner and find a solution that is optimal for the couple. We will not deeply analyze the individual problems of the partners but rather focus on things that are positive for the whole system. That should, at the end of the day help harmonizing the individual needs of both the partners.
